TIER Deadline Reminders

TIER Deadline Reminders – Fall 2016 by Angela Bosworth-Cowman

It’s deadline time again!

With the closing of the fall screening window there are several tasks and deadlines coming up. Please help us out by dealing with issues well ahead of the deadlines. We want to help, but we often run out of time to research issues and assist with fixing them when the first contact is the afternoon of the deadline.

REMINDER Fall Screening Window

The fall screening window will close at the end of the day on October 31st.

REMINDER Screening File Upload

Schools that are not screening students directly in TIER by clicking on the pencil to transfer to the FAST system will need to upload their approved assessment screening data and resolve all errors no later than 5:00 pm on November 4th. Schools are able to upload data for students in grades K-6. Do not certify your literacy status indicators until after your upload is completed and verified. The instructions for how to upload data can be found in the Iowa TIER knowledge base by searching for article id: 210891323.

REMINDER Literacy Status Certification

The principal role for each school will need to certify the school’s literacy status one-click report no later than 5:00 pm on November 11th. The availability to certify will be in place on November 1, but users can begin to view their literacy status one-click report at any time. If issues are found, please submit a ticket and include specific details. A screenshot of the child’s literacy status report row is very helpful. The instructions for how to certify the report can be found in the Iowa TIER knowledge base by searching for article id: 210890603.

REMINDER What’s Next After Screening

In the Iowa TIER Knowledge Base, you will find support on literacy status and parent notification. Please also consider that screening data is meant to be used. It assists with finding specific students who we need to support, and also encourages us to reflect on the health of our system at building, grade, and classroom levels.  For instructional tips and ideas, please see:  I’m done Screening- What’s Next for Instruction? article Id# 210888963.

Finally, thank you for your support as we continue to work to improve the Iowa TIER system. We want to make the system work well all the time, for all users. The Iowa TIER support team truly appreciates your patience and kind words.

Updated letters for Persistently at Risk

The Parent Letter about Persistently at Risk Status has been updated for the legislative change in language (Substantial Deficiency to Persistently at Risk).

Keystone has translated those letters into Spanish and can be accessed here and on the literacy website.

If you need additional languages translated, please let us know and we will do our best to support this work.
